HGV Night Shift Technician
Hours: 44 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Tuesday - Friday, 7:30pm - 7:00am
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Night Shift Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle workshop. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a range of commercial vehicles to a high standard. The role requires a confident and experienced technician who can work independently, accurately diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for an HGV Technician looking for a permanent night-shift position within a modern workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults on commercial vehicles.
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to manufacturer standards.
- Use modern diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify vehicle faults.
- Complete scheduled safety inspections and identify any additional repairs required.
- Repair and replace faulty components and vehicle parts.
- Work on mechanical, electrical and vehicle subsystem faults.
- Follow the repair process from initial fault diagnosis through to completion.
- Complete job cards and workshop documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Support other Technicians within the workshop where required.
- Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and vehicle safety.
Requirements
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Truck Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Previous experience working on commercial vehicles, trucks or heavy vehicles.
- Ability to diagnose faults with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow workshop procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience with manufacturer-specific diagnostic systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
