Job summary

R.Collard in Reading is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain our fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have completed a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering, be confident with pneumatic braking systems, and hold a full UK driving license.

You will be responsible for vehicle repairs, ensuring high pass rates for MOT tests, and participating in training for skill development. The role offers a competitive hourly rate and additional benefits like life assurance and 28 days holiday.

Qualifications

• Must have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle or plant engineering.
• Must be able to inspect a vehicle to MOT standards.
• Must have a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicle repairs, inspections, and servicing are performed safely.
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process.
• Ensure vehicles maintain a 98% pass rate on MOT tests.

Job description

Join our team at Collard Group Ltd, a prominent waste management and demolition company in the South of England. We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to contribute to our operations and maintain our fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicle repairs, inspections and servicing are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and VOSA requirements in a safe and cost effective manner
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process
• Ensure vehicles are presented for MOT test and we maintain a 98% pass rate
• Ensure that the company time recording procedures are complied with and that job cards are completed accurately

What we’re looking for

• Have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle or plant engineering
• Be confident with pneumatic breaking systems and electrical repairs
• Be able to inspect a vehicle to MOT standards
• Be able to plan and implement maintenance schedules
• Be able to adapt and take on new skills and approaches and participate in training and development
• Have good communication, organisation and team working skills
• Have a good understanding of health and safety
• Must be willing to travel between sites (Reading & Chilton)
• Full UK Driving Licence
