Job summary

Transcomm Recruitment is supporting a major Commercial Vehicle manufacturer to recruit Mechanics - Technicians for a very busy workshop. You can come from a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, agricultural, construction or any other vehicles and may hold IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications.

Full training is provided. Shifts run 6am–2:30pm, 7am–3:30pm or 1pm–10pm with lots of overtime.

Qualifications

• Must possess a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles, plant, vans, cars, agricultural, construction or any other kind of vehicles.
• Experience of IRTEC, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications or similar.
• Full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed vehicle inspections to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Assess engines, transmissions, brakes, and other critical components of HGVs.
• Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire checks and replacements, and fluid top-ups.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
• Monitor and record vehicle performance to anticipate potential problems and schedule timely interventions.
• Communicate repairs and maintenance needs with the Workshop Controller and the services team.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in HGV technology and repair techniques.
