Job summary

Recruitment Helpline Ltd in Chadwell St Mary is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter/Mechanic to join a brand-new workshop. You will fabricate and assemble components, ensuring HGVs are roadworthy and built to exacting standards for ongoing fleet maintenance.

Working hours are Monday–Friday 6am–5pm with potential flexible options and overtime at enhanced rates. Minimum 5 years of experience and relevant qualifications are required; Class 1 licence is advantageous.

• Solid mechanical knowledge with good troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical work on HGVs (e.g., Scania) to ensure road-worthiness.
• Utilise hand and power tools to complete tasks efficiently.
• Inspect finished work to meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and adhere to health & safety rules.
• Collaborate with team to improve processes and resolve issues.

Full-Time – Permanent – Can Be Self-Employed or PAYE.

Salary:

£25.00 - £30.00 Per Hour, Depending on Experience.

Location:

Chadwell St Mary RM16.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 6am-5pm (Can be flexible if needed) with weekend work & overtime at enhanced rate always available if interested.

Job Description:

The company are seeking a skilled HGV Fitter/ Mechanic to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating and assembling components using various tools and techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment. The Fitter will play a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet quality standards and specifications, working in our brand-new workshop as part of an established team.

Key Duties:

• Carry out all mechanical work to HGV‘s (Scania vehicles) ensuring they are road worthy and fit for purpose
• Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
• Conduct inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and resolve any issues that arise during production.

Candidate Requirements:

• Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools for fabrication and assembly tasks.
• Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
• Solid mechanical knowledge, enabling effective troubleshooting of equipment issues.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
• Must have minimum 5 years' experience and relevant qualifications
• Class 1 licence not essential but would be an advantage.
