Job summary

The Timber Group Maidstone in Kent is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver to join our branch. You’ll deliver timber, sheet materials and building supplies to customers across the local area, focusing on safety, reliability and excellent service.

You’ll operate a 26-tonne vehicle with HIAB crane, perform daily vehicle checks, secure loads and ensure paperwork complies with drivers’ hours and transport rules. We value teamwork and pride in delivering great service to our customers.

Qualifications

• Category C (Class 2) HGV driving licence
• Driver CPC qualification and tachograph card
• HIAB / lorry-mounted crane qualification with practical operating experience
• Understanding of vehicle safety, load security and safe lifting practices
• Professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work
• Great communication skills and commitment to customer service
• Willingness to support colleagues across the branch

Responsibilities

• Operate a 26-tonne HGV Class 2 vehicle with HIAB crane delivering timber and building supplies locally
• Safely operate the HIAB crane to unload materials at customer premises and sites
• Ensure deliveries are completed efficiently, safely and on time with excellent service
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain vehicle and lifting equipment
• Ensure loads are secured and transported in compliance with current regulations
• Manage delivery paperwork and comply with drivers' hours and transport legislation
• Represent The Timber Group professionally and build positive customer relationships

We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver to join our team at Maidstone. What You'll Be Doing

• Operating a 26-tonne HGV Class 2 vehicle equipped with a HIAB crane, delivering timber, sheet materials and building supplies to customers across the local area.
• Safely operating the HIAB crane to unload materials at customer premises and construction sites.
• Ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently, safely and on time while providing excellent customer service.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and ensuring your vehicle and lifting equipment are maintained to a high standard.
• Ensuring all loads are safely secured and transported in accordance with current regulations.
• Managing delivery paperwork and complying with company procedures, drivers' hours and transport legislation.
• Representing The Timber Group professionally and building positive relationships with our customers.

What You'll Bring

For this role, we're looking for someone who has:

• A valid Category C (Class 2) HGV driving licence.
• A valid Driver CPC qualification and digital tachograph card.
• A recognised HIAB / lorry-mounted crane qualification, with practical operating experience.
• A good understanding of vehicle safety, load security and safe lifting practices.
• A professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work.
• Great communication skills and a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the branch.

Experience delivering timber, building materials or working within the builders' merchant industry would be an advantage.
