Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd in Littlehampton is seeking a skilled HGV Fleet Technician to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles, including DAF and Volvo models. The role offers a stable, full-time position with progression opportunities and a well-equipped workshop.

You will plan workloads, carry out routine servicing, diagnose faults, and prepare vehicles for MOT testing while keeping detailed records. A driving licence is required, HGV licence advantageous.

Qualifications

• 5–6 years of proven experience as an HGV technician or mechanic.
• Knowledge of DAF and Volvo trucks is preferred but not required.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience preparing vehicles for MOT is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills and workload planning ability.
• Valid driving licence; HGV licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including out-of-hours calls.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise workload and maintenance schedules.
• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and perform repairs as needed.
• Maintain detailed service and repair records.
• Assist with urgent repairs to minimise downtime.
• Carry out inspections and rectify major defects per safety rules.
• Support out-of-hours call outs with fault diagnosis and repairs.
• Assist with planned maintenance and breakdowns for fleet vehicles (28–44 tonnes).
