Job summary

Whistl South West is seeking experienced Class 1 or Class 2 HGV drivers for long-term roles with a modern fleet and a people-first culture. You will operate on pre-planned routes, contribute to reliable deliveries, and represent the Whistl brand with professionalism and safety.

The role offers 42 hours per week with overtime paid; potential earnings uplift through overtime and long-service rewards. Applicants should hold Class 1 or Class 2 licences, CPC, tachograph card, and a clean driving

Qualifications

• A valid Class 1 (Cat C+E) or Class 2 (Cat C) licence.
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents.
• Ability to handle physical demands and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HGV vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Deliver goods to designated locations on time and in good condition.
• Complete paperwork and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Provide excellent customer service and liaise with colleagues and customers.
• Follow traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies; conduct vehicle inspections.

Based on an average of 8 hours per week, this could add up to an additional £9,750 per year (Class 1, based on an average of 8 hours overtime per week), meaning your hard work really does pay off.

Working Hours

42 hours guaranteed, with overtime paid after 42 hours.

Day shift Class 1 -Monday to Friday

About the RoleAs a Whistl HGV Driver, you'll be responsible for transporting goods on pre-planned, designated routes. We operate a collection and injection to carrier model, giving you a more structured and predictable day.

You'll be representing the Whistl brand, delivering exceptional service with every journey and helping ensure our customers' goods arrive on time and in perfect condition.

As an HGV Driver at Whistl, you will:

• Operate and maintain HGV vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the timely and secure delivery of goods to designated locations.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Provide exceptional customer service,
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues.

Requirements

• A valid Class 1 (Cat C+E) - Class 2 (Cat C) licence
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification (the cost of renewals required during employment will be covered by Whistl)
• Digital tachograph card
• Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents and a strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
• Ability to handle physical demands
• Good communication skills to quickly understand instructions and liaise effectively with colleagues and customers
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills
