Job summary

Amey in Glasgow is seeking a committed HGV Driver/Highways Maintenance Operative to join the M8 Account on a full-time permanent basis. The role offers a 39‑hour week from Monday to Friday with occasional night shifts and overtime opportunities.

You will help maintain safe roads, reduce incidents, and support winter resilience and environmental upkeep. You will be responsible for applying safety standards, performing maintenance tasks, and coordinating with teams, subcontractors, and emergency

Qualifications

Experience in roads and/or street works.
Hold an HGV Class 1/2 licence.
Demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety regulations.
Self-motivated and able to work in a team.
Winter maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Undertake highway maintenance tasks including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement and drainage maintenance.
Operate and maintain vehicles including HGVs and small plant, with checks and routine maintenance.
Participate in winter and summer standby duties and emergency callouts.
Ensure safety of yourself and the team at all times.
Keep records and liaise with Amey staff, sub-contractors, emergency services, police and clients.
