Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking an HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver for Bristol-based waste and recycling collection. The role combines driving with loading in an outdoor, team-oriented environment, with a 39-hour week from 6:00am to 2:30pm.

Shifts run Monday to Friday, with overtime paid at 1.5x after 39 hours and potential for permanent employment. A valid Class 2 licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card are required.

Responsibilities

HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver – BristolWe are recruiting HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver for ongoing, full-time work supporting waste and recycling collection services across Bristol.

• Monday to Friday
• 6:00am – 2:30pm shifts (39 hours per week)
• £17.27 per hour
• Overtime paid at 1.5x after 39 hours. Lots of overtime available
• Long-term opportunities with the potential for permanent employment

This is a physically active role combining HGV driving with loading duties. You'll be responsible for safely operating a Class 2 vehicle while working as part of a team to collect, transport and unload waste and recycling materials across the Bristol area.

The Role

• Safely drive and operate HGV Class 2 vehicles in line with legal requirements and company procedures.
• Collect, load, transport and unload waste and recycling materials.
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report defects promptly.
• Tip vehicles at approved recycling and waste facilities.
• Accurately complete paperwork and electronic records using handheld devices.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
• Deliver excellent customer service and communicate professionally with colleagues, customers and the public.
• Work flexibly across different operational locations when required.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.

This is a hands-on outdoor role involving regular lifting, moving bins and recycling containers, and working in all weather conditions. It's ideal for drivers who enjoy staying active and being part of a supportive team.

Requirements

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Good understanding of HGV driving regulations, Working Time Directive and tachograph rules
• Experience completing daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Comfortable using mobile devices and completing electronic paperwork
• Reliable, safety-conscious and a strong team player
• Previous waste, recycling or commercial collections experience is desirable but not essential
