Job summary

Workmate Agency is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our waste collection team on the PM shift in Birmingham (B8). The role involves collecting commercial and industrial waste with a focus on safety, professionalism, and customer service. Training and long-term career opportunities are provided.

You will operate a Class 2 vehicle, perform daily safety checks, follow routes, and maintain accurate paperwork while delivering excellent service to customers within the local area.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence required.
• Driver CPC qualification card required.
• Digital Tachograph card required.
• Good understanding of UK driving regulations.
• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit for manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle.
• Collect commercial and industrial waste across Birmingham and surrounding areas.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks before each shift.
• Follow planned collection routes and schedules.
• Ensure collections are completed safely and efficiently.
• Complete all collection paperwork accurately.
• Maintain excellent customer service while representing the company.
• Report vehicle defects or incidents promptly.
• Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.

HGV Class 2 Driver – Waste Collection (PM Shift)

Location: Birmingham, B8

Pay: £17.98 per hour

Overtime: £22.48 per hour after 40 hours worked per week

Hours: Monday to Friday, start time between 11:00am and 1:00pm

About The Role

Workmate Agency are looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join our growing waste collection team on the PM shift. You will be responsible for collecting commercial and industrial waste across Birmingham and the surrounding areas while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV Class 2 (Category C) vehicle.
• Collect commercial and industrial waste from customer sites.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks before each shift.
• Follow planned collection routes and schedules.
• Ensure collections are completed safely and efficiently.
• Complete all collection paperwork accurately.
• Maintain excellent customer service while representing the company.
• Comply with Road Traffic Regulations and company Health & Safety procedures.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Work closely with the transport and operations teams to ensure collections are completed on time.

Essential Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good understanding of UK driving regulations.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit, as manual handling is required.

Desirable

• Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, or a similar driving role.
• Knowledge of Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
