Job summary

QS Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 driver for ongoing refuse collection work in Market Harborough (LE16). You will operate an HGV 2 vehicle on assigned routes, perform daily checks, and work closely with the crew to ensure timely, safe waste collection. Immediate start available for suitable candidates.

Open to newly qualified drivers who hold the required licences and qualifications; winter maintenance duties may apply during colder months.

Qualifications

HGV Class 2 Refuse Drivers – Immediate Start – Market Harborough (LE16)
We are currently recruiting experienced and newly qualified HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Drivers to join a busy refuse and waste collection operation in the Market Harborough (LE16) area.
This is an excellent opportunity for HGV 2 drivers looking for ongoing work within a structured local authority/environmental services operation.
Working as part of a dedicated refuse collection crew, you will be responsible for operating an HGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicle on allocated waste collection routes, ensuring all scheduled collections are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site procedures and relevant road transport legislation.
Duties will include driving and manoeuvring the refuse vehicle on established rounds, working closely with the loader/ground crew, carrying out routine vehicle checks and ensuring all collected waste is transported safely to the designated disposal, transfer or tipping facility.
Drivers will be expected to maintain a high standard of vehicle safety and awareness at all times, including completing relevant daily walkaround checks, defect reporting and vehicle safety procedures.
During the winter period, there may also be opportunities or requirements to support the council’s winter maintenance and emergency response operations, including the operation of vehicles involved in gritting, salting and snow/ice clearance across the local road network.
Newly passed HGV Class 2 drivers are welcome to apply, provided they hold the relevant licence and driver qualifications.

Experience & Qualifications

Applicants must hold:

• A valid HGV Class 2 / Category C driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Valid Digital Tachograph (Digi) Card
• Good knowledge of UK road networks and road safety procedures
• The ability to work effectively as part of a refuse collection crew / operational team
• A professional approach to vehicle checks, defect reporting and driver compliance
• The ability to follow allocated routes, instructions and operational procedures
• Previous refuse, waste collection, local authority or multi-drop HGV experience would be advantageous, although newly qualified Class 2 drivers will be considered
• Drivers must be physically capable of working in an outdoor environment and comfortable working as part of a team in all weather conditions.
