Job summary

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd in Wantage is seeking a Class 2 HGV driver to join our team. You will operate a Hook lorry around the Oxfordshire area, delivering, removing and exchanging skips while upholding safety and compliance with UK regulations.

We offer an hourly rate of £16.00, generous overtime (up to 60 hours per week), modern well-maintained vehicles and a range of benefits including a life assurance scheme, on-site parking and staff discounts. Holidays are 28 days incl.

Qualifications

• At least one year HGV Class 2 experience.
• Hold a valid DCPC and Category C licence.
• Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Delivering, removing and exchanging skips.
• Carrying out routine vehicle checks.
• Ensuring loads are secure.
• Maintaining a log book with trips and rest breaks.

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family run business owned and run by the Smith family since 1982. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse, Tewkesbury and Wantage we operate predominately across the South-West of England and South Wales. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

We are looking for a class 2 driver to join our team at our Wantage Depot. You will be required to drive a Hook lorry and work in and around the Oxfordshire area.

Responsibilities for the HGV Driver:

You will also be eligible for a compliance bonus scheme

• Delivering, removing and exchanging skips




• Carrying out routine vehicle checks




• Making sure that the load is correctly placed and is secure




• Maintaining a log book with details of trips, including rest breaks




• Have at least one year HGV Class 2 experience




• Hold a valid DCPC and Category C licence




• Be reliable, punctual and self-motivated




• Have a great attitude and strong work ethic




• Be capable and confident in your ability.
