Job Description
We are seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers for regional pallet network, multi-drop, and trade distribution operations based in Newmarket. Positioned with immediate access to the A14, A11, and A142 corridors, this role offers guaranteed shift hours and dependable long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.
Key Details & Responsibilities
Hours: 45 - 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday day shifts, standard 06:00/07:00 starts)
Start Date: Immediate starts available following standard site induction and driving assessment
Safe Transport: Rigid curtain-side and box vehicle operations, delivering palletised freight, retail goods, and commercial supplies across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, and Norfolk
Vehicle & Tail-Lift Checks: Conducting mandatory daily pre-trip walk-around safety inspections and testing tail-lift operations
Compliance: Ensuring safe load strapping, correct use of pump trucks/tail lifts, and strict adherence to EU Drivers' Hours and digital tachograph rules
Documentation: Accurate handling of electronic consignment notes, customer signatures, and Proof of Delivery (POD) confirmations
Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
Experience: Minimum 6-12 months commercial Class 2 driving experience preferred (prior multi-drop or tail-lift experience advantageous)
Clean Record: Maximum 6 penalty points (strictly no DR/DD/IN endorsement codes)
Professional Standards: High commitment to road safety, punctual timed deliveries, and a courteous customer-facing attitude
Expected Hours: Typically 8-10 paid hours per shift, with regular opportunities for overtime.
Support: Dedicated transport coordinator and on-call planning team
