Job summary

Expect Distribution Limited in Colchester is seeking a reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join our transport team. You will manage safe loading, multi‑drop deliveries and customer communications while maintaining high vehicle standards.

The role requires a valid HGV Class 2 licence with CPC and Tacho, plus the ability to work Monday to Friday 06:00–16:00, with occasional overtime. Permanent contract with benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 Licence (minimum 6 months experience)
• Valid CPC + Tacho
• No more than 6 penalty points on licence
• Experience delivering palletised goods
• Clear communication with team and clients
• Basic mechanical knowledge for minor repairs
• Delivery/warehouse experience advantageous
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Supervise the loading of the vehicle to ensure safe loading and secure goods
• Check goods off with customers and obtain signature
• Handle customer issues on delivery effectively
• Carry out multi‑drop deliveries safely and on time
• Drive the vehicle safely in line with the law and tachograph rules
• Keep accidents to a minimum and report them per procedure

Position Overview:

We are hiring a HGV Class 2 Driver, who will join our transport logistics team working with a dedicated customer with fixed delivery points. Reporting to the Transport Team Leaders you will possess a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer service while transporting goods to various locations, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest standards of vehicle care.

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday // 06:00-16:00 (flexibility required)
Salary: £15.10 p/h + overtime rates (paid monthly)
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: CO7 7JW (Colchester)

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
• Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print
• Handle customer issues on delivery effectively
• Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
• Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.
• Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
• Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum and report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.

Role Requirements:

• Valid HGV Class 2 Licence (minimum of 6 months experience is required)
• Valid CPC + Tacho
• No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
• Experience in collecting and delivering palletised goods with a tai lift
• Strong ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients.
  
• Basic mechanical knowledge to identify vehicle issues and perform minor repairs if necessary.
• Previous experience as a delivery driver or in warehouse operations is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times.
