We are seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers for high-volume chilled goods and regional freight distribution operations based in Newmarket. Positioned with direct, rapid access to the A14, A11, and A142 corridors, this role offers guaranteed shift hours and dependable long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.
Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Day shifts, twilight runs, and 4-on/4-off shift patterns available)
Start Date: Immediate starts available following standard site induction and driving assessment
Safe Transport: Temperature-controlled trunking, scheduled supermarket RDC deliveries, and inter-hub palletised network freight runs across Cambridgeshire, East Anglia, and the Midlands
Vehicle Checks: Conducting mandatory pre-use walk-around safety inspections and verifying trailer temperature calibration
Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to cold chain integrity, EU Drivers’ Hours regulations, Working Time Directive (WTD), and digital tachograph rules
Documentation: Accurate handling of temperature log sheets, consignment notes, and digital Proof of Delivery (POD) confirmations
Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
Proven commercial Class 1 driving experience, a valid licence with no more than 6 minor points, and strictly no DR, DD, or IN endorsements.
Clean Record: Maximum 6 penalty points (strictly no DR/DD/IN endorsement codes)
Professional Standards: High standards of road safety, timekeeping, and defensive driving
Working Hours: Typical shifts run 8 to 10 paid hours, with regular overtime opportunities available.
