Job Title: HGV Class 2 Driver

Base Location: Wellington, Somerset (TA21)

Salary: £27,011 depending on skills and experience and working hours - plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week).

The role includes the option of participation in a standby rota to support reactive maintenance requirements, with standby payments provided along with enhanced hourly rates and/or TOIL for any call-outs attended.

Due to the nature of our National Highways contracts, this role offers variety across the South West and may involve occasional planned night working and overnight stays, with plenty of notice and full accommodation and expenses provided when required.

Enerveo is one of the UK’s leading Highways Electrical contractors, delivering full-service street lighting and highway electrical solutions for local authorities and infrastructure partners. With expertise in lighting design, installation, project management, maintenance and the integration of smart technologies, we manage over one million street lights across the UK and help towns and cities become safer, smarter, greener and more efficient.

What will I be doing in this role?
  • Supporting teams with the installation and maintenance of street lighting infrastructure and highway furniture, including street lights, signposts and road signage across major roads
  • Diagnosing faults and assisting with repairs to ensure equipment is operating safely and effectively
  • Carrying out equipment changes, maintenance and testing to help prevent future issues and maintain reliability
  • Working outdoors in a physically demanding role, including working on public highways and in varying weather conditions with a team of Operatives and Electricians
  • Delivering excellent service to our clients and the general public by completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Following strict health, safety and compliance procedures set by our clients and the business
  • Operating a mobile elevated working platform (HIAB) safely and effectively
What do I need to be successful in the role?
  • A valid Class 2 HGV licence
  • The ability and willingness to complete National Highways compliance training once appointed
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, this is a role for someone who enjoys working outside all year round
  • Flexibility to work out-of-hours and night shifts due to the nature of our National Highways contracts and the requirement for planned road closures. Any night working will be communicated well in advance, typically with 3–6 months’ notice
  • The ability to stay away from home when required, as our work covers a wide geographical area across the South West of England. Where overnight stays are needed, we provide accommodation and a food allowance
Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;
  • IPAF/ PASMA working at height training
  • HIAB / Lorry Loader Operator qualification
  • ALLMI (Association of Lorry Loaders Manufacturers and Importers) accredited training course
  • NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) qualification
  • Completion of an Electrical Safety Awareness course (G39)
  • CSCS card
  • Relevant highways, street works or construction experience would be advantageous

We will support the right candidate to achieve any level of industry training/qualifications they may not have in the ‘nice to have’ list.
