Job summary

Gap Group is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our Non Mechanical division based in County Durham. You will load, deliver and collect equipment from customer sites, and demonstrate hire gear when required, while ensuring safety and compliance with legal duties.

The role is a permanent full-time position with a 42.5-hour week, in a customer-focused team, offering training and development within a respected national equipment hire company.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in HGV driving – loading, delivering and collecting equipment from customer sites.
• Class 2 driving licence with Driver CPC (min 35 hours) and valid Digital Tachograph card.
• HIAB training is preferred.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety protocols and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Load, deliver and collect equipment to/from customer sites in a timely, safe manner.
• Possibly demonstrate hire equipment on customer sites and complete required checks/administration.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements while driving and on site.
• Deliver excellent customer service and pay attention to detail.

The Role

Our nationwide Non Mechanical division hire a range of equipment including crowd control barriers, scaffolding and road plates to the events industry alongside our more traditional business sectors within the construction, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.
The role of the HGV Driver involves loading, delivering and collecting equipment to and from customer sites in a timely and professional manner whilst driving responsibly and safely within the law at all times. When on customer sites, there may be a requirement to carry out hire equipment demonstration and the HGV Driver must ensure that all relevant checks and administration involved for the hire are completed accurately.

About You

• Significant experience working within an HGV driving role loading, delivering and collecting equipment from customer sites is essential


• Class 2 driving licence, Driver CPC with a minimum of 35 hours completed and valid Digital Tachograph card


• HIAB Training preferred


• An understanding of Health & Safety protocols and the ability to follow these guidelines in the workplace


• Excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail
