Job summary

HG Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 driver for day shifts in Preston. The role involves multi-drop deliveries, safe vehicle operation, daily checks, loading/unloading, and accurate paperwork. Excellent customer service and familiarity with local routes are essential to succeed.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 45 hours per week, and a pension scheme. Competitive hourly rates, with weekly and annual earnings outlined in the job post.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence (Category C) and CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Multi-drop delivery experience preferred in FMCG/cash & carry environments.
• Good knowledge of local road networks and traffic patterns.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-drop deliveries to retail, hospitality, and business customers.
• Safely operate a Class 2 vehicle in line with road and safety regulations.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Load and unload goods, involving manual handling.
• Ensure deliveries are accurate and supported by paperwork.
• Provide excellent customer service at delivery points.
• Follow planned routes and delivery schedules.
• Adhere to driving laws, working time directives, and tachograph rules.

Drivers required: HGV Class 2

Location: Preston

Shifts: Days

Rates – HGV Class 2:

• £24.09 per hour (Including holiday pay) | £36.14 per hour after 45 hours weekly.

Estimated weekly pay based on 45 hours £1,084.05

Expected annual earnings £56,370.60 Inclusive of holiday pay

DUTIES

• Carry out multi-drop deliveries to retail, hospitality, and business customers

• Load and unload goods, often involving manual handling
• Ensure all deliveries are accurate and supported by correct paperwork

Requirements
