Job summary

Fowler Welch in Poole is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to operate refrigerated articulated vehicles and deliver chilled stock to Local and Regional DCs, Farms, and Packhouses across the UK. The role offers varied shifts including days and nights with 3-hour start windows for flexibility.

Exact pay is shift-dependent, with enhanced rates for nights and weekends and overtime after 10 hours. Training is provided, and numerous employee benefits are available, including funded CPC and

Qualifications

• Possession of LGV Class 1 Licence
• Current CPC
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
• Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadline

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proofs of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office
• Achieve and maintain fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Handle any other duties as reasonably required
