Job summary

Culina Transport Logistics in Carlisle is seeking dedicated HGV Class 1 drivers for our General Haulage operation. This permanent, part-time role focuses on night shifts with a strong emphasis on safety and reliable deliveries across the region.

Pay rates range from £18.10 to £18.41 per hour, with a £5 per shift meal allowance. The package also includes generous holiday entitlement and career development opportunities within Culina’s nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence and at least 6 months HGV Class 1 experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions.
• Current DCPC & Tachograph cards held.
• Understanding of Driver hours, WTD rules and tachograph compliance.
• Able to perform vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Able to work on-site with health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with curtainside trailers to distribution centres and stores.
• Collections from stores to load out to factories and DCs.
• Occasional store deliveries and assisting with loading/unloading cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and maintain safe, compliant operations.
• Collaborate with transport team to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Adhere to Driver hours, WTD legislation and tachograph rules.

Job Description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our depot in Carlisle to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are part time, working on a permanent basis, with ideal shift patterns available on Nights below:

• Saturday and Sundays Nights

Shifts typically start between 17:00-19:00. We offer flexibility in shift patterns, so if these start dates and times don't quite suit your availability, let us know what you're looking for, we'll do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Pay Rates:

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £18.10 to £18.41 per hour, depending on shift - giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Saturday and Sunday Night Shift - £18.10 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance

Driver Responsibilities:

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
