Job summary

Culina is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join our Penrith operations, supporting the General Haulage division. Roles are full time with night shifts (Mon-Fri Nights), typically starting 17:00–19:00, offering flexible patterns to suit availability.

Pay rates range from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour depending on shift, plus a £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance. Benefits include healthcare and a range of employee perks.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence required.
• Ideally minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• Current DCPC & Tachograph cards required.
• Understand and comply with Driver's hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to carry out vehicle checks and report defects.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with curtainside trailers to DCs and stores.
• Collections from stores to load out to factories and distribution centres.
• Occasional store deliveries and ability to load/unload cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and keep documentation up to date.
• Maintain high safety, compliance and professionalism.
• Work closely with transport team to ensure smooth operations.
• Adhere to drivers' hours, WTD and tachograph rules.

Job Description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our operations in Penrith to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis, with ideal shift patterns available on Nights below:

• Monday to Friday Nights

Shifts typically start between 17:00-19:00. We offer flexibility in shift patterns, so if these start dates and times don't quite suit your availability, let us know what you're looking for, we'll do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Pay Rates:

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour, depending on shift - giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Nights- £15.80per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Nights- £18.10per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance.

Driver Responsibilities:

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver's hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply on-site health and safety requirements.
