Job summary

Culina Group Limited in Barnsley is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join our Wentworth Park operation. We offer competitive hourly rates, day and night shifts, and a supportive team focused on safety and service. You will perform general haulage, store collections, and trunking as part of a modern fleet.

Full CPC, DQC, and relevant experience preferred; training and development are provided. We value reliability and professional standards, with opportunities for long-term career

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence and minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Understand Driver Hours Regulations and WTD.
• Ability to perform vehicle checks and report defects.
• Comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• General haulage using curtainside trailers to Distribution Centres and retail stores.
• Store collections for onward movement to Distribution Centres.
• Support a variety of transport operations, including occasional store deliveries.
• Loading and unloading cages when required.
• Trunking work where operationally available.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks and all relevant paperwork.
• Maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism.
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Complying with Driver Hours Regulations, WTD, and Tachograph legislation.

Shift Patterns

Day Shifts

• Thursday to Monday
• Start times between 04:00 and 07:00

Night Shifts

• Any 5 days from 7
• Start times between 16:00 and 19:00

Weekend working forms part of these operations and flexibility is required to support customer demand.

Pay Rates

• Monday to Friday Days: £15.15 per hour
• Monday to Friday Nights: £16.35 per hour
• Saturday & Sunday Days: £18.15 per hour
• Saturday & Sunday Nights: £18.65 per hour
• Bank Holidays: £18.96 per hour

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• General haulage using curtainside trailers to Distribution Centres and retail stores

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on‑site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
