Stobart is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers for our Penrith operation, supporting general haulage with curtainside trailers to distribution centres and stores across the region.

These full-time night shifts typically run Mon-Fri from 16:00–19:00 with weekend work possible; pay now from £15.80–£18.41 per hour plus a £5 per shift meal allowance, reflecting commitment to safe driving and high service standards.

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers).
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tach o cards and understand driver hours and WTD legislation.
• Understand and able to carry out vehicle checks to ensure safety and report defects.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers to Distribution Centres and Stores.
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres.
• Support General work, including occasional store deliveries and loading/unloading cages.
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation.
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism.
• Work closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations.
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Job description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our operations in Penrith to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis, with ideal shift patterns available on Nights below:

• Monday to Friday Nights

Shifts typically start between 16:00 and 19:00. We offer flexibility in shift patterns, so if these start dates and times dont quite suit your availability, let us know what youre looking for, well do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Weekend working may be required in line with business demand.

Pay Rates:

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour, depending on shift giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Nights - £15.80 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Nights - £18.10 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.

• On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance.

Driver Responsibilities:

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation

Qualifications

• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
