Job summary

Veolia is seeking an experienced driver for a full-time role based near Birmingham. You will drive to planned collection locations, load waste into walking floor trailers and ensure safe, compliant operation.

Daily pre-use checks and reporting defects are required, with weekend work rotating and a 45-minute unpaid lunch break. Applicants should hold a Cat C+E licence and a Driver CPC/DIGI card, plus relevant waste transport experience.

• Valid Cat C+E licence required.
• Driver CP/DIGI card required.
• Experience driving waste transport is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive to planned collections locations and load waste into a walking floor trailer.
• Ensure vehicle is safely loaded, operated and driven at all times.
• Undertake daily pre-use vehicle checks and report defects.

Salary

£48,223.49 and Veolia benefits

Hours

40 hours per week - excluding a 45-minute unpaid lunch break

Monday to Friday - plus working 3 weekends in 8 (saturday and sunday with a rest day in the week to compensate for working during the weekend)

Shift start and end times will vary on a daily or weekly basis according to the needs of the business. This will be discussed in advance between you and your manager

What you'll be doing

• Driving to planned collections locations and loading waste into a walking floor trailer
• Ensure the vehicle is safely and properly loaded, operated and driven at all times while collecting, transporting or tipping waste.
• Undertake daily pre-use vehicle checks, reporting any defects to the transport office
• Comply with all traffic laws and legislation and ensure their work environment is safe and clean at all times
• Ensure all scheduled work is completed and compliant

What are we looking for

• Cat C+E (Class 1) licence and previous driving experience
• Driver CP/ DIGI card

Desirable

• Local geographical knowledge, including experience of driving in the area
• Experience in transport of waste and use of walking floor trailers
• RoRo experience and Wheel Loading Shovel training
