Job summary

Lockwood Group is recruiting experienced HGV drivers to be based at S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (RM20 4EL). The role operates Monday–Friday days with 44 hours guaranteed and target earnings averaging 60 hours per week.

We offer training (ADR, driver assessor, FLT licences), a modern fleet, permanent contract, paid holidays, pension, overtime, PPE and funded CPC courses. Salary is £16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with CPC, Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible with good verbal communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 400 employees spanning 8 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions.

S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England.

New business developments on the horizon are allowing us to recruit experienced HGV drivers. We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.

Shift Pattern:

Monday - Friday Days

Hours:

44 hours guarenteed pay per week based on a full working week. Salary range based on on target earnings, average 60 hours per week.

Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.

Rate:

£16.00 per hour

The Role

Ideally the candidates would meet the following requirements:

• Candidates will be a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• You will be reliable and punctual and have a flexible approach
• Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
• Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
