Job summary

Fowler Welch, a key logistics provider, is recruiting HGV Class 1 drivers for 4 on 4 off night shifts in Portsmouth. You'll operate refrigerated articulated vehicles, delivering and collecting chilled stock across the UK, with training and development opportunities.

Role requires HGV Class 1 licence and CPC, plus knowledge of drivers hours and Road Transport Directive. Night and weekend enhanced rates apply, with focus on safety and accuracy in paperwork and vehicle checks.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily vehicle checks and temperature checks on units/trailers.
• Sign and return PODs after delivery and maintain fuel efficiency targets.

Job description

This role is a 4 on 4 off Nights position! Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver, or newly qualified and ready to begin your driving career? We are recruiting dependable drivers to join our team in Portsmouth. Experience is welcome but not essential-we are happy to invest in drivers who have the right attitude, are willing to learn and are committed to completing the required training. In your role as a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be operating refrigerated articulated vehicles, delivering and collecting chilled stock from Local and Regional Distribution Centres as well as Farms and Packhouses across the UK. Shift patterns available

• 4 on 4 off Nights, Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required
• Possession of HGV Class 1 Licence

• Saturday 04:00 - 20:00 - £19.45 per hour

• Sunday and Bank Holiday 04:00 - 20:00 - £20.29 per hour
