Job summary

Fowler Welch is recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers for its chilled distribution in Evesham. This permanent, full-time role offers a structured 4 on 4 off shift pattern and regular work delivering to major retail RDCs across the UK.

Earn around £34–35k per year with overtime potential; shifts usually 9:00–11:00 starts, up to 11 hours per day, plus per-shift rates and meal allowance. Training bonuses and protections are provided.

Qualifications

• Possession of LGV Class 1 Licence is required.
• Current CPC qualification is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers' hours is essential.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out chilled distribution deliveries to main retail RDCs nationwide.
• Delivering to key customer sites including major UK retailers.
• Completing self-tip deliveries and breaking down pallets where required.
• Collecting equipment or returns and bringing them back to site.
• Report to the Transport team at shift start and update delays or issues.
• Complete paperwork and ensure PODs are signed and returned.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures.
• Manage working time in line with RTD and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects; maintain unit/trailer.
• Maintain professional behaviour and customer service at all times.

Job Description

We’re looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our chilled distribution operation based in Evesham. This is a fantastic opportunity for drivers who want a structured 4 on 4 off shift pattern, regular work and the chance to be part of a busy, established transport operation delivering to major retail distribution centres across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC deliveries. You’ll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

• 4 on 4 off Day Shifts
• Wednesday to Sunday
• Thursday to Monday
• Friday to Tuesday
• Saturday to Wednesday

Start Times between 09:00 - 11:00

Average shifts are around 11 hours, depending on route and operational requirements, and additional shifts may be available for drivers who want to increase their earnings.

Pay rates

Our HGV Drivers have strong earning potential, with basic salaries for 4 on 4 off circa £34-35k per annum plus opportunity for overtime for additional OTE.

Our drivers are paid per shift, with the following day shift rates:

• Monday to Friday: £174.55 per shift
• Saturday and Sunday: £197.81 per shift

You’ll also receive a £5 daily meal allowance, with Double Decker and disturbance allowances paid where applicable.

Potential to earn up to£1300 annual safe driver bonus scheme {paid £350 a quarter}based on safe and efficient driving

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out chilled distribution deliveries to main retail RDCs nationwide
• Delivering to key customer sites including major UK retailers
• Completing self-tip deliveries where required, including breaking down pallets at certain sites.
• Collecting equipment or returns from customer locations and bringing them back to site.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and keep them updated on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

Qualifications

• Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadline
