Job summary

Fowler Welch in Evesham is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for a permanent, full-time role in our chilled distribution operation. You will deliver to major retail RDCs nationwide, maintain safety standards and manage daily paperwork and load checks.

Shifts operate on a 4 on 4 off pattern with start times between 09:00–11:00, typically around 11 hours. We offer paid training, employee recognition schemes, and a competitive shift-rate structure.

Qualifications

• Possession of LGV Class 1 Licence.
• Current CPC is required.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers' hours.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out chilled distribution deliveries to main retail RDCs nationwide.
• Delivering to key customer sites including major UK retailers.
• Completing self-tip deliveries where required, including breaking down pallets.
• Collecting equipment or returns from customer locations and bringing them back to site.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and update on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

• Compensation: GBP 174 - GBP 197 - daily,
• 4 on 4 off Day Shifts
• Wednesday to Sunday

• Start Times between 09:00 - 11:00 Average shifts are around 11 hours, depending on route and operational requirements, and additional shifts may be available for drivers who want to increase their earnings.
• Pay rates Our HGV Drivers have strong earning potential, with basic salaries for 4 on 4 off circa £34-35k per annum plus opportunity for overtime for additional OTE. Our drivers are paid per shift, with the following day shift rates:
• Monday to Friday: £174.55 per shift
• Saturday and Sunday: £197.81 per shift
• You'll also receive a £5 daily meal allowance, with Double Decker and disturbance allowances paid where applicable. Potential to earn up to £1300 annual safe driver bonus scheme {paid £350 a quarter} based on safe and efficient driving,
