Job summary

Fowler Welch in Bristol is seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join the team nights, supporting meat processing and packaging operations across the UK. This is a permanent, full-time role focused on safe driving, dependable deliveries, and excellent customer service.

Shift pattern is Monday to Friday nights starting at 18:00; compensation is £13.43–£22.83 per hour, depending on shift times. You will need a valid Class 1 licence, DCPC & Tachographs, and a solid grasp of driver hours

Qualifications

• Hold a valid C+E Licence.
• Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is advantageous but New Pass drivers will be considered.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• DCPC & Tachographs are current and valid.
• Understand drivers hours and WTD legislation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork.
• Adhere to health, safety and hygiene rules and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of transport department operations.
• Manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects.
• Sign and return PODs to the Transport Office after delivery.
• Aim for fuel efficiency targets set by the business.
• Execute any other duties as reasonably required.

We’re looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Fowler Welch team in Westerleigh - Bristol, supporting our Meat Processing and packaging operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards. You’ll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

Shift Patterns-

• Monday to Friday 18:00 Starts

Salary- From £13.43 - £22.83 per hour depending on shift times.

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence
• Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is advantageous however we will consider New Pass Drivers

• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
