Job summary

Fowler Welch in Westerleigh - Bristol is seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers for permanent full-time roles. You will support meat processing and packing operations, delivering across the UK with focus on safety and customer service.

Shifts are Monday to Friday starting at 05:00. Compensation ranges from £13.43 to £22.83 per hour, with benefits including CPC training and recognition awards. Excellent driving standards are essential.

Qualifications

• C+E Licence required
• New Pass drivers considered
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions
• DCPC & Tachograph cards required
• Understanding of Driver hours and WTD legislation
• Ability to carry out vehicle checks and report defects
• On-site health and safety compliance

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure PODs are signed and returned to Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and exceed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required

We’re looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Fowler Welch team in Westerleigh - Bristol, supporting our Meat Processing and packaging operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards. You’ll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

Shift Patterns-

• Monday to Friday 05:00 Starts

Salary- From £13.43 - £22.83 per hour depending on shift times.

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence
• Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is advantageous however we will consider New Pass Drivers
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
