Job summary

Fowler Welch in Spalding is seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to support our meat processing and packaging operation across the UK.

This permanent, full-time role requires safe driving, excellent customer service and reliable delivery standards, with shifts from 05:00 Monday to Friday. You will ensure paperwork, adhere to health and safety rules, perform vehicle checks, and help meet fuel efficiency targets; pay ranges £14.72–£20.73 per hour depending on shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E licence required.
• DCPC and Tachograph cards valid.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• Understand driver hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to perform vehicle safety checks and report defects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver to meat processing and packaging operations across the UK.
• Complete paperwork thoroughly and accurately.
• Maintain safe driving and high service standards.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and perform daily vehicle checks.
• Meet fuel efficiency targets and assist team as needed.
• Any other duties reasonably required.

Job Description

We’re looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Fowler Welch team in Spalding, supporting our Meat Processing and packaging operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards. You’ll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

Shift Patterns-

• Monday to Friday 05:00 Starts

Salary- From £14.72ph- £20.73ph depending on shift times.

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure

Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks

Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery

Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business

Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence
• Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is advantageous however we will consider New Pass Drivers
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
