Job summary

Charles Trent Ltd in Poole is seeking a transport driver to operate a modern seven-car transporter across UK routes, collecting end-of-life and other vehicles. The role includes loading, securing and occasional winching of vehicles, plus depot transfers and timely paperwork.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 CE licence required.
• CPC and DIGI card valid and in date.
• Knowledge of drivers' hours and regulations.
• Literate and numerate with good attention to detail.
• Mechanically minded with problem solving ability.
• Good with customers and professional on the road.

Responsibilities

• Drive a modern seven-car transporter across UK routes.
• Collect end-of-life, insurance and accident-damaged vehicles from customers.
• Load, secure and occasionally winch non-running vehicles.
• Carry out depot-to-depot transfers when required.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time.
• Work closely with transport, operations and material handling teams.
• Occasionally undertake night-out duties (paid extra).
• Work 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to:

Transport and Logistics Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Driving a modern seven-car transporter across UK routes


• Collecting end-of-life, insurance and accident-damaged vehicles from customers


• Loading, securing and occasionally winching non-running vehicles


• Carrying out depot-to-depot transfers when required


• Completing all paperwork accurately and on time


• Working closely with our transport, operations and material handling teams


• Completing occasional nights out (paid extra)


• Working 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Experience & Essential Qualities:

• An HGV Class 1 (CE) licence holder


• CPC and DIGI card in date


• Knowledgeable about drivers' hours and regulations


• Literate and numerate with good attention to detail


• Mechanically minded and confident in problem solving


• Great with customers and a professional ambassador on the road


• Experienced with transporters or vehicle recovery (desirable, not essential)


• Able to provide two references
