Job summary

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking an HGV Class 1 Driver to join their team in Eastleigh, Hampshire. This full-time, permanent role supports the Rental, Sales and Service teams by delivering and collecting generators and associated equipment from a wide range of customer sites.

• Class 1 Licence (Cat C+E) with Driver CPC
• Digital Tachograph holder
• Experience operating heavy goods vehicles
• CSCS Card
• Ability to work flexible hours (early starts/late finishes)

• Customer service and communication skills
• Lorry Loader Licence (Hook) desirable
• ALLMI/RTITB loader qualification desirable
• ADR Licence (Tanks) desirable

Responsibilities

• Deliver and collect generators and equipment from customer sites.
• Operate 6- and 8-wheel rigid lorry-loaders, drawbar trailers and tractors.
• Load and unload generators and equipment at depot and customer sites.
• Start generators on delivery, connect fuel tanks and carry out checks.
• Provide customers with basic operating guidance.
• Deliver fuel to customer sites using appropriate tankers or vehicles.
• Check equipment against paperwork and ensure loads are secure.

JR363: HGV Class 1 Driver

Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire

Salary: £37,800 Per Annum

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking an HGV Class 1 Driver to join their team.

This is a full-time, permanent position within the Transport Department of a leading UK generator hire company. The successful candidate will support the Rental, Sales and Service teams by delivering and collecting generators and associated equipment from a wide range of customer sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely deliver and collect generators and associated equipment from customer sites.
• Operate a variety of vehicles, including 6- and 8-wheel rigid lorry-loaders, drawbar trailers and tractor units with flatbed trailers.
• Load and unload generators and associated equipment at the depot and customer sites.
• Start generators on delivery, connect fuel tanks and carry out initial checks.
• Provide customers with basic operational guidance where required.
• Deliver fuel to customer sites using fuel tankers or 4x4 vehicles with bowsers.
• Check equipment against paperwork and ensure all loads are correctly and securely positioned.
• Assist customers with cable management when required.
• Carry out basic equipment maintenance and cleaning duties.
• Maintain vehicles and working areas in a clean, safe and organised condition.
• Complete vehicle safety checks and comply with Tachograph and Working Time regulations.
• Follow company Health & Safety policies and relevant ISO procedures.
• Support the company's continuous improvement programme.
• Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
• Work flexible hours, including early starts and late finishes, in line with business requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Class 1 Licence (Cat C+E)
• Experience operating relevant heavy goods vehicles.
• Digital Tachograph holder.
• Driver CPC
• CSCS Card
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts and late finishes.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Professional and reliable approach to work.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Lorry Loader Licence (Hook) – desirable.
• ALLMI or RTITB loader qualification and experience – desirable.
• ADR Licence, minimum Class 3 covering Tanks & Packages – desirable.
