Forward Assist Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a driver role in the United Kingdom. You will join a team delivering and installing temporary roadway solutions, with away-from-home work Monday to Friday.

The role emphasises operating a Hiab crane for panels at events and sites nationwide, with a modern fleet and supportive training. Salary starts around £44,115 with a £4,500 night-out allowance and an OTE up to £54,500.

Qualifications

• HGV C+E (Class 1) or HGV C (Class 2) licence is essential.
• Current CPC Training Card is required.
• Experience with lorry-mounted crane/Hiab is beneficial but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, transport, install, and recover equipment and hire fleet.
• Inspect, maintain, clean vehicles, trailers, cranes, and equipment.
• Carry out daily risk assessments and checks before operations.
• Coordinate with customers, Stock Controller, and Logistics on schedules and site plans.
• Provide familiarisation of equipment to customers as needed.
• Log deliveries, recoveries, and site checks; drive according to DVSA rules.
• Maintain and submit all paperwork accurately and on time.

Job description

Our client is expanding their driver team to support continued growth. They are a trusted UK provider of flexible access solutions, delivering temporary roadways and rail access for infrastructure, construction, and events projects nationwide.

Seeking confident Class 1 or Class 2 drivers to join their team in a role that involves working away Monday–Friday, delivering and installing temporary roadway solutions alongside a Portable Roadway Operative. Experience in a similar role or operating a lorry-mounted crane/loader is beneficial, though full training is provided. You’ll be equipped with a modern fleet featuring onboard welfare facilities, high-quality tools, seasonal PPE, and all necessary hygiene products making your environment as comfortable as possible and a home from home.

This isn’t a standard driver vacancy in that you will only be driving for around 25% of the time. The rest of the time you will be operating a Hiab, laying panels at events across the country.

Salary: £44,115 with performance bonus plus Night Out Allowance: £4,500 – OTE £54,500

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load, transport, install, and recover equipment and hire fleet
• Inspect, maintain and clean vehicles, trailers, cranes, and all equipment
• Carry out daily risk assessments and checks before operations
• Coordinate with customers, Stock Controller, and Logistics on schedules, site plans, and requirements
• Provide customer familiarisation of equipment as needed
• Confirm daily panel movements and process all dispatches/collections through M42 system
• Identify, count and record damaged or missing items; ensure no excess materials remain on site
• Complete daily driver checks and report all vehicle incidents, accidents, or damage
• Perform daily and weekly stock checks of vehicles, tools, panels, and accessories
• Log deliveries, recoveries and site checks on tickets signed by the customer
• Drive using driver cards as per DVSA regulations
• Maintain and submit all legal and company paperwork accurately and on time

What We’re Looking For

• HGV C+E (Class 1) or HGV C (Class 2) – Essential
• Experience in similar role
• Comfortable with the physical installation phase of the role (training provided)
• Current valid CPC Training Card
• Experience of using a lorry loaded crane (Hiab etc.)
• Working away Monday-Friday, a flexible approach to working hours - Essential
• Must live within a commutable distance from the Lesmahagow depot

NB

• This role is physically demanding, and they will be predominantly working outside when not in the lorry
• Working away from home Monday to Friday
• Working as part of a team of 2 and sleeping in a lorry cab with another person (the cabs are specifically designed to sleep two people)
