Job summary

Barrett Steel Limited is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver for our Cradley Heath site (Congreaves Industrial Estate). This Monday–Friday role, with overtime, delivers steel products across a multi‑drop route and represents the company on the road.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence with no more than 6 points.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good knowledge of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Understanding of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements.
• A professional attitude and strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Previous experience within a warehousing or distribution environment.
• Previous multi-drop driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely unloading vehicles at customer premises.
• Completing and returning Proofs of Delivery promptly and accurately.
• Checking load security and weight distribution at the beginning and end of each shift in line with safe working practices.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and ensuring any defects are reported promptly.
• Making sure vehicles are operated safely and maintained to company standards.
• Delivering excellent customer service at both our site and customer premises.
• Supporting warehouse operations when required.
• Following all relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Working as part of a team to ensure deliveries and daily operations run smoothly.

Based at our Congreaves Industrial Estate site in Cradley Heath, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods to our customers across a multi-drop route.

You'll play an important role in making sure every delivery arrives safely, on time and with the high level of customer service we're known for.

Your working week will be 42.5 hours, Monday to Friday, with overtime available when required.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

We're looking for a professional and dependable driver who takes pride in delivering excellent service.

• Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence with no more than 6 points.

• Understanding of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements.
