Job summary

Barrett Steel is recruiting for a multi-drop driver to join our team in the UK. The role involves unloading at customer premises, securing loads, completing PODs, and ensuring vehicles are safe and compliant with regulations.

The ideal candidate will hold a Class 2 HGV licence with CPC and tachograph card, and have knowledge of the Working Time Directive. Willingness to stay away on jobs is essential and you may provide warehousing support as needed.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 2 licence with clean points ideally 6 or fewer.
• Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card required.
• Understanding of working time directive and driver regulations.
• Experience in warehousing or distribution environments preferred.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards (EHS).
• Flexibility to stay away as required by jobs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises.
• Ensure Proofs of Delivery are signed and returned promptly.
• Check load security and weight distribution at start and end of shifts.
• Ensure delivery vehicles are maintained and report defects to the company.
• Maintain safety standards on site, on the road and at customer premises.
• Be an ambassador for high-quality customer service.
• Provide warehouse support when required.

All About the Role

The purpose of this role is to carry out multi-drop driving & related duties involved with the carriage of goods. The basic hours for this role are Monday to Friday 37.5 hours plus overtime.

Specific tasks include:

• To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises
• Ensuring Proofs of Delivery are signed & returned without delay.
• To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices at the beginning and end of each shift.
• To ensure that the delivery vehicles are always maintained to Company standards, of reporting of any defects to the vehicle.
• Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.
• Uphold all exacting health and safety standards at site, on the road and at customer premises.
• Be an ambassador for high-quality customer service
• Support in the warehouse when needed.

All About You

Essential Skills for the role:

• To hold a valid HGV Class 2 Licence (with no more than 6 points).
• Own a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
• Knowledge of working time directive.
• Previous experience in a warehousing or distribution business, ideally multi-drop
• Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
• The ability to stay away as and when the job requires it
