Job summary

TRC Yorkshire is seeking HGV Class 1 drivers for long-term overtime opportunities in Coventry. Newly qualified drivers are welcome and training is provided to ensure safe, efficient deliveries of high-value parcels.

Shift patterns span Sunday to Friday with both full-time and part-time options. Start times vary between 13:00–17:00 or 20:00–01:00, offering 10–12 hour shifts with 8 hours guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 (C+E) entitlement.
• Newly qualified drivers welcome; training available.
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Maximum of 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills and a safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Trunking between depots, delivering parcels to destinations on time and safely.
• Collect high-value goods from key customers, including full trailer collections.
• Occasional handling of push roller cages as required.
• Accurate reversing and yard manoeuvres, including shunting when needed.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Adhere to traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Liaise with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

Job Type: Long-term ongoing

Shift Patterns

• Across Sunday to Friday (full-time and part-time options available).
• Monday and Friday are priority shifts.

Start time windows

• Between 13:00–17:00
• Between 20:00–01:00

Pay Rates (Including Rolled-Up Holiday Pay) :

Please note that there will be a £2 uplift on below rates between 22nd of November till 19th of December.

Weeks 1–12

• Days (06:00–22:00): £20.22 per hour
• Nights (22:00–06:00): £20.50 per hour
• Weekends (Saturday & Sunday): £20.50 per hour

13+ Weeks

• Days (06:00–22:00): £20.50 per hour
• Nights (22:00–06:00): £21.06 per hour
• 6th Shift – Days (06:00–22:00): £30.75 per hour
• 6th Shift – Nights (22:00–06:00): £31.31 per hour
• Bank Holiday – Days (06:00–22:00): £41.00 per hour
• Bank Holiday – Nights (22:00–06:00): £41.56 per hour

Average shift length: 10–12 hours (8 hours guaranteed).

Key Responsibilities

• Trunking between depots, ensuring timely and safe delivery of parcels containing high-value goods.
• Collecting high-value goods from well-known customers, including full trailer collections and drop-and-swap operations.
• Occasional handling of push roller cages as required.
• Precise reversing and manoeuvring in yards, including shunting duties when needed.
• Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Adhering to traffic laws, regulations and company safety standards.
• Communicating effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 (C+E) entitlement.
• Newly qualified drivers are welcome to apply, with training available.
• Flexibility with start times within the advertised windows (drivers can choose their preferred window).
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Maximum of 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Successful completion of assessment (theory and practical).
• Understanding of WTD legislation.
