Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting HGV 7.5T drivers to join the Newton Aycliffe depot on immediate-start shifts. You will perform collections and deliveries with a fixed North East route, supporting a modern fleet and loading duties as required.

Shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:45, with overtime available after 40 hours at enhanced rates. A UK driving licence, Driver CPC and Tachograph card are essential, with a minimum of 6 months 7.5T experience.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC, for on/off site driving.
• Valid Driver Digital Tachograph Card.
• Minimum 6 months' experience driving 7.5T vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Make collections and deliveries.
• Average of ~10 runs per shift.
• Fixed route each day in the North East region.
• Manual handling: loading/unloading parcels at depot and customer locations.
• Use devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot.

Start of the assignment: Immediately!

The Best Connection are working closely with our client to recruit HGV 7.5T (7.5 Tonnes) Drivers to build on the existing team at their new Newton Aycliffe depot.

Drive the best technology and modern fleet with our client and be part of an industry leader focused on being the best in the industry.

Paid inductions are taking place on Tuesday 1st September 2026 at 08:00am at the client's Durham depot.

These are immediate-start positions, with opportunities for temporary-to-permanent employment. Successful drivers are guaranteed a permanent contract within 14 weeks.

HGV 7.5T (7.5 Tonnes) Drivers - The Role

The role includes:

• Collections and deliveries.
• An average of approximately 10 runs per shift.
• The same set route each day across the North East region.
• Manual handling is heavily involved, with drivers assisting with loading and unloading parcels at the depot and customer locations.
• Drivers will also use devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot.

HGV 7.5T (7.5 Tonnes) Drivers - Working Hours & Pay

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Start time: 09:00am - 17:45pm

Rate of Pay: £16.05 per hour

Overtime Rate: £23.43 per hour

Overtime is available after 40 working hours, particularly during peak periods from mid-November to the end of January.

HGV 7.5T (7.5 Tonnes) Drivers - Requirements

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC, regardless of whether driving on or off site.
• Valid Driver Digital Tachograph Card, which must be used at all times when driving, both on and off site.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience driving 7.5T vehicles.
