Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting HGV C+E drivers for the Newton Aycliffe depot with immediate start. You will undertake collections and deliveries across a fixed route in the North East, with around 10 runs per shift and loading/unloading parcels.

This temporary-to-permanent role offers a guaranteed permanent contract within 14 weeks, with shifts Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:45, and pay £19.08 per hour plus overtime (£27.76ph). Inductions start soon at the Durham depot.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Valid Driver CPC required regardless of where driving.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card required at all times.
• Minimum 6 months experience driving Class 1 vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries with a focus on the North East region.
• Approximately 10 runs per shift on a fixed route.
• Handle loading/unloading parcels at depot and customer locations.
• Use devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot.

HGV C+E (LGV Class One) Drivers - Newton Aycliffe Depot

Start of the assignment: Immediately!

The Best Connection are working closely with our client to recruit Class 1 HGV C+E drivers to build on the existing team at their new Newton Aycliffe depot.

Paid inductions are taking place on Tuesday 1st of September 2026 at 08:00am.

These are immediate-start positions, with opportunities for temporary-to-permanent employment. Successful drivers are guaranteed a permanent contract within 14 weeks.

The role includes:

• Collections and deliveries.
• An average of approximately 10 runs per shift.
• Same set route each day across the North east Regions.
• Manual handling is heavily involved, with drivers assisting with loading and unloading parcels at the depot and customer locations.
• Drivers will also use devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Start time: 09:00am - 17:45pm

Rate of Pay: £19.08ph

Rate of pay: Overtime: £27.76ph

Over time available after 40 working hours - during peak times which are set for Mid November - end of January.

Driver requirements:

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC, regardless of whether driving on or off site.
• Valid Driver Digital Tachograph Card, which must be used at all times when driving, both on and off site.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
