Job summary

Cowdray Estate is seeking an experienced Estate Quantity Surveyor to join the Construction Department and oversee estimating, financial management and contract administration for maintenance works and construction projects across the historic estate properties.

The role focuses on conservation, maintenance and development of assets, demanding expertise in cost estimation, contract administration and compliance with Building Regulations and conservation requirements.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree level or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Surveying etc.
• Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in the building/construction industry.
• Experience in extension/refurbishment/planned maintenance projects for varied property types.
• Experience estimating the cost of construction works.
• Experience in project and budget management.
• Knowledge of building contracts and their administration.
• Knowledge of statutory/industry compliance including Planning, Building Regulations, Listed Building Consent and Health and Safety Legislation.
• Passionate knowledge of working with historic buildings using traditional repair and conservation techniques.
• Commitment to quality and high workmanship standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, IT and organisational skills including Excel.
• Flexible team player with a proactive estate/community mindset.
• Full clean driving licence and use of a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Estimating, financial management and contract administration for maintenance works and construction projects across Estates properties and assets.
• Contribute to conservation, maintenance and development of estate properties.
• Manage budgets and ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.
• Collaborate with the Building Consultancy team and wider estate operations.
