Job summary

Brett Aggregates, part of the Brett Group, seeks a Site Operative to operate heavy mobile plant, manage stockpiles and assist with loading vehicles at our recycling operation in Hithermoor, Staines. You will promote safety standards and support daily site operations, working with colleagues and contractors to ensure efficient deliveries.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a wheeled loading shovel or 360° excavator in quarrying, recycling, waste, aggregates or similar heavy industry.
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) standards.
• Experience operating, inspecting and maintaining heavy plant and equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to undertake training, including working towards a QCF qualification in Mobile Plant Operations if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wheeled loading shovel and/or 360° excavator safely and efficiently.
• Load customer vehicles and company HGVs with recycled aggregates and materials.
• Manage and maintain aggregate stockpiles.
• Support the safe, compliant and efficient running of the site.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in line with company policies and industry regulations.
• Monitor plant performance and carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Work closely with colleagues, customers, suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth site operations.
• Act as a key point of contact for inbound and outbound material movements.
• Promote a positive safety culture and maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and add value to the business.
