Job summary

Tata Steel Llanwern, Newport, is seeking a Mechanical Craft Team Member to maintain energy plant equipment on a 37.5-hour shift pattern. The role supports the Shift Control Engineer across steam, gas, water, compressed air and HV electrical systems, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Applicants should be time-served with NVQ3 in Mechanical Engineering and have 2+ years in heavy industrial maintenance. A UK driving licence and ability to work flexible shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship and NVQ3 in Mechanical Engineering are essential.
• 2+ years in a Heavy Industrial environment is required.
• 2+ years in a Mechanical maintenance role is required.

Responsibilities

• Delivering mechanical maintenance across the energy plant.
• Responding to engineering, safety and quality issues to minimise downtime.
• Supporting the shift Control Engineer with reactive and preventative maintenance activity.
• Ensuring all work complies with H&S requirements, PTW procedures and high engineering standards.
• Developing a strong understanding of fluid power and electrical systems.
• After training, supporting HV and fluid power activity.
• Becoming authorised to issue permits.
• Supervising Tata or contract personnel as needed.
• Adhering to UK Health and Safety legislation at all times.
• Identifying areas for improvement and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
