Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a heavy industrial cement facility in Dunbar. The role is 4-on / 4-off days and nights, focusing on fault-finding, preventive maintenance and keeping critical production equipment operating safely and efficiently.

You will work across LV/HV systems, motors, drives and control panels, with PLC/SCADA environments and a strong safety culture on a 24/7 site. Cement industry experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification or completed electrical engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience in industrial electrical maintenance and breakdown response.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working with motors, drives, switchgear, MCCs and control panels.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation.
• Understanding of electrical isolation and safe systems of work.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Confidence working independently during shift operations.
• Safety-conscious approach to maintenance.
• Willingness to work a 4-on / 4-off day and night shift.

Responsibilities

• Responding to electrical breakdowns and restoring production equipment to service.
• Diagnosing and repairing faults across industrial electrical and process-control systems.
• Maintaining LV and HV motors, switchgear and motor control centres.
• Fault-finding on variable speed drives, inverters and industrial control panels.
• Working with PLC, DCS and SCADA-controlled production machinery.
• Maintaining instrumentation, sensors and associated control equipment.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and electrical inspections.
• Supporting maintenance across kilns, mills, conveyors and material-handling equipment.
• Assisting with plant shutdowns, repairs and major maintenance activities.
• Working closely with production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment faults.
• Following electrical isolation procedures, permit-to-work systems and site safety requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives.
