Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a permanent role at a major cement manufacturing facility in Dunbar, East Lothian. The role involves 4-on/4-off days and nights, maintaining heavy industrial equipment and complex electrical systems.

You'll diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and support plant reliability across kilns, mills, conveyors and process controls.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification or completed electrical engineering apprenticeship.
• Experience in industrial electrical maintenance and breakdown response.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with motors, drives, MCCs and control panels.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation.
• Understanding of electrical isolation and safe systems of work.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Ability to work independently during shift operations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to electrical breakdowns and restore production equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults across industrial electrical and process-control systems.
• Maintain LV and HV motors, switchgear and MCCs.
• Fault-find on variable speed drives, inverters and control panels.
• Work with PLC, DCS and SCADA-controlled production machinery.
• Maintain instrumentation, sensors and associated control equipment.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and electrical inspections.
• Support maintenance across kilns, mills, conveyors and material-handling equipment.
• Assist with plant shutdowns, repairs and major maintenance activities.
• Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment faults.
• Follow electrical isolation procedures, permit-to-work systems and site safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives.
