Job summary

ANT Recruitment is seeking a Heavy Haulage Mechanic in Redditch for a busy UK transport and engineering business. You will service and maintain heavy tractor units and specialist trailers to keep fleets available for demanding transport work.

Requirements include City & Guilds Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or NVQ/SVQ Level 3, experience with heavy vehicles, and a full UK driving licence; an HGV licence is desirable. The position offers 40 hours per week with overtime in a full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Support breakdown repairs at project sites when required.
• Maintain an orderly workshop and assist with additional tasks.

About the Company

We are recruiting for an established UK transport and engineering business delivering general haulage, specialist transport and heavy-lift projects. You will work within an operation where reliable equipment, practical expertise and close teamwork support demanding customer assignments.

The Role

Keep heavy tractor units and specialist trailer combinations safe, serviceable and available for planned transport work.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled servicing and inspections on tractor units, trailers and associated equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs and modifications arising from equipment defect reports.
• Follow manufacturer instructions, maintenance schedules and approved working methods.
• Escalate major defects, breakdowns and incidents to the workshop manager.
• Support breakdown repairs at project sites when required.
• Maintain an orderly workshop and carry out additional tasks within your training and competence.

Skills and Experience Required

• City & Guilds Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualification.
• Experience servicing, inspecting and maintaining heavy vehicles, plant or associated equipment.
• Full, clean and valid UK driving licence.
• Practical diagnostic skills, organisation and clear communication.

Desirable Experience

• An HGV driving licence is preferred.
