Job summary

Allelys Group in Studley, Warwickshire wishes to appoint a Heavy Haulage Mechanic to maintain our fleet of tractor units and trailers, ensuring roadworthy condition and reliable availability for operations.

The role requires a full UK driving licence (HGV preferred) and City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in heavy vehicle maintenance, with strong fault-finding skills and a collaborative workshop approach. You will be part of a team, performing servicing and breakdown support to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

  • Full, clean and valid UK driving licence.
  • HGV licence preferable.
  • City & Guilds Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Equivalent NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualification.
  • Good verbal and organisation skills.
  • Experience of working on the maintenance, servicing and inspection of a range of heavy vehicles, plant and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all work is carried out to the required standard to manufacturer guidelines, internal planned maintenance and servicing routines/schedules and vehicle operating standards.
  • To ensure that all work activities are carried out safely as specified in the relevant risk assessments.
  • To carry out routine planned maintenance and inspections of tractors, trailers and associated equipment to ensure they are in a safe and roadworthy condition.
  • To complete mechanical fault finding on the heavy haulage fleet and associated equipment.
  • To carry out repairs and modifications as required and as identified on equipment defect reports submitted by project operational teams.
  • To report any major faults, defects, problems, malfunctions, accidents or incidents to the Heavy Haulage Workshop Manager.
  • To perform any duty within the Company that is a reasonable request within the performance, skill and ability level of the Heavy Haulage Mechanic.
  • To ensure that work area is kept clean and tidy.
  • To conduct the role within as directed by the company and within the guidelines outlined within the Group Rules and Policies.
  • Any additional responsibilities listed are subject to having received the correct training and holding valid certificates where applicable.

The role is to maintain the Allelys fleet of heavy haulage vehicles (tractor units) and trailer combinations to ensure their availability and serviceability to perform operations in a safe and road worthy condition. Working as part of a team to maintain equipment to manufacturer guidelines, internal planned maintenance and servicing routines/schedules and vehicle operating standards on a daily basis to ensure the heavy haulage fleet is fit for purpose on a continuous basis.
