Job summary

KONE Heathrow is seeking an Improver to join our team. You will support qualified escalator engineers with the maintenance, servicing, and repair of escalators at one of the UK’s busiest airports, gaining hands-on experience, technical knowledge, and industry qualifications while following safety standards.

Qualifications

• A strong interest in engineering and a desire to build a career in the escalator industry.
• Part-qualified or working towards NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Some mechanical/electrical experience or relevant qualification is advantageous.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team within a fast-paced airport environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to work the 4 on 4 off, 6am–6pm shift pattern and meet airport security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supporting qualified escalator engineers with maintenance, servicing, and repair of escalators across Heathrow.
• Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable.
• Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance under supervision.
• Working in line with safety standards and Heathrow procedures.
• Building strong relationships with customers and on-site stakeholders.
• Developing skills through structured training and on-the-job coaching.
• Accurately recording work using digital tools and systems.
