Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking a Heat Treatment Operative to join an established Engineering & Manufacturing company. The role supports heat treatment activities and general material preparation, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and process adherence.

Key duties include operating cranes/FLTs, hardness testing, furnace operation, and documentation updates. The position offers a bonus around £3,700+ on top of an OTE £40,000 and requires a practical, team-minded approach.

Qualifications

• Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Previous use of cranes and FLTs preferred.
• Practical, reliable approach with attention to detail.
• Understanding of safety and quality requirements.
• Able to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out heat treatment processes in line with technical instructions.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks for material handling.
• Undertake hardness testing (Brinell).
• Support sawing operations, including cutting materials and sample preparation.
• Assist with furnace operation and basic programming.
• Maintain accurate system updates on the internal computer.
• Support departmental dispatch requirements.
• Complete routine compliance and safety checks.
• Follow site health and safety procedures at all times.
• Contribute to improvement and housekeeping activities (5S).
• Support problem-solving and process improvements.
• Participate in team-based activities as required.

The position involves supporting heat treatment activities alongside general material preparation tasks, including cutting and handling of alloys and components. The role requires a consistent approach to safety, quality, and adherence to process standards.
