Job summary

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing is seeking a motivated Bandsaw Operative to join the production team in Sheffield. You will support heat treatment operations on high-value components, ensuring safety, traceability, and quality as you work with experienced colleagues.

You will handle materials with cranes and forklifts, operate bandsaws, process various material forms, and contribute to production records using digital systems. A proactive, detail-focused mindset is essential for this role.

• Operate cutting and sawing equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Record inspection results and be part of quality traceability.

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company

Bandsaw Operative

We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our production team, supporting heat treatment operations on high-value engineering components. Working alongside an experienced colleague, you will play a key role in processing specialist materials while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and traceability.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist with the heat treatment of precision-engineered rotating components and associated products.
• Transport and position materials safely using overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
• Process a range of material forms including blooms, ingots, electrodes, and shaft sections.
• Carry out cutting, sampling, and preparation activities to meet production requirements.
• Operate various cutting and sawing equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Perform hardness testing and record inspection results in line with quality standards.
• Load and unload heat treatment furnaces, ensuring work is completed to schedule.
• Support dispatch and logistics activities, including vehicle loading and unloading.
• Maintain accurate production records using the company's digital manufacturing systems.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, quality, and operational procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or metals environment.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and quality processes.
• Experience using cranes, bandsaws, forklifts, or material handling equipment would be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product traceability.
• A proactive approach to teamwork and workplace safety.
• Basic computer literacy and confidence using production management systems.
