Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay seeks a specialist Health and Safety Advisor to support the Competent Person and ensure compliance with NHS requirements. You will monitor actions from audits and inspections and help manage risk across the Trust.

The role involves delivering training, interpreting guidelines, and liaising with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive. A full driving licence and up-to-date CPD are essential.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or Post-grad qualification in health and safety.
• Appropriate training qualification or willingness to gain.
• Degree-level knowledge and experience in health, safety and risk theory and practice.
• Experience of developing and delivering specialist Health and Safety training in healthcare settings.
• Full driving licence for travel across the Trust.
• ROSPA Level 3 Award in Safer People Handling Trainers Qualification.

Responsibilities

• Interpret national guidelines and provide policy, guidance on health and safety across the Trust.
• Lead day-to-day health and safety advice and support to all areas of the Trust.
• Advise and influence management on health and safety matters; design and deliver risk-control systems.
• Formulate, review and implement health and safety policies.
• Liaise with external agencies (HSE) regarding health and safety matters, incidents, and investigations.
• Research and write reports for Health and Safety Committee, raising issues and proposing solutions.
• Identify training needs and develop Health and Safety training; deliver to large groups and individuals.
